We are currently in the process of putting together the specifics for a 7th Grade Bridge to AP U.S. History trip to Washington D.C.. In order to move beyond the exploratory phase of our planning, it is important that we get an idea of how many of our students will take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity. We will spend a lot of time this year exploring U.S. History and Civics from the confines of our classroom. What better way to bring those concepts alive than to go to the very heart of our nation's history. We are exciting about putting this trip together, and plan on making it an annual 7th grade Bridge trip.
Here is what we have so far:
Five days touring the important sights and museums in our nation's capital.
We will travel with a carefully selected motor coach company.
Students will stay in a well-established hotel with security assigned to our group.
Expected cost per student - $650-$700 (we are currently negotiating with two premier student tour companies).
Trip will take place during the second half of April.
Tour will include: the Smithsonian Institute Museums, the National Archives, the Library of Congress, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Washington Monument, the U.S. Capitol, the Vietnam and World War Memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, and much more.
There will be opportunities for parent chaperons.
Fund-raising opportunities will be available to help offset the cost of the trip.
